Instructions
for 2009
- Prepare
the summary
To apply to present a paper at ICCE one
must submit a two-page paper, formatted
as an ICCE Digest paper. Submitting a paper
summary that is much longer than two pages
risks a grading penalty. Instructions and
examples are available on the ICCE Author's
Information Page. Keep in mind
that all papers must directly relate to
the design of products purchased or leased
by consumers. Be sure that this applicability
is clearly demonstrated in the summary.
Paper Format
Papers will only be accepted in PDF format.
Adobe Acrobat or a number of similar programs
may be used to prepare the PDF file. Suggestions
are listed below.
- Prepare
the abstract
Prepare a text-only abstract of approximately
35-50 words (no more than 300 characters).
Paste this abstract into the appropriate
box in the online submission form.
- Choose
a submission topic
Select the conference
topic that most closely matches
the subject area of the paper. Optionally,
select a secondary topic. The
primary topic selection will be used
to match reviewers to your paper so it is
important to make a careful selection.
- Submit
the paper
Use the online paper submission system to
create an account and upload your paper.
Be sure that you receive an email confirmation
that your paper has been received. If not,
log in to your paper submission account
to verify both your email address and your
papers. Be sure to use a reliable email
account that you can access in September.
- If
accepted, create the digest-ready paper
You will be notified by email in early September
if your paper is accepted. Upon acceptance,
create a digest-ready paper and upload to
the paper submission system, following the
instructions in your acceptance email.
- Schedule
Paper summaries due: June 22, 2008.
Notification of acceptance: September 5,
2008.
- Questions?
Contact icce@ieee.org
or your local Regional
Representative if you have any
questions about the paper submission process.
Additional Guidelines
- Commercial
references (such as Product Names, Brands,
or Part Numbers) are not permitted in the
body of the paper, summary, or abstract.
Instead, use generic descriptions in the
paper and place product names footnotes.
Please see the abstract and footnote in
the example
paper for an illustration of
this. Commercial presentation opportunities
are available during sponsored events at
the conference. Please contact icce@ieee.org
for more information.
- Authors
submitting papers for presentation at ICCE
should be able to communicate effectively
in English. Individuals presenting papers
at the conference should be able to effectively
deliver the paper in English to an international
audience - authors who are unable to do
so themselves, should make an effort to
find alternative speakers who can effectively
present their paper.
- Only
those who personally write the paper are
to be listed as authors. Submissions listing
more than five authors will have the additional
names deleted. The efforts of persons who
contributed to the project described, or
who otherwise helped the author(s) should
be recognized in an acknowledgements section
at the end of the paper.
- Papers
will be accepted for either a 20-minute
oral presentation or as part of a poster
session. Accepted authors will be required
to submit two-page digest summaries in October
2008. Two-page summaries of these papers
will be published in the Digest of Technical
Papers, which is provided to conference
attendees at the time of the conference.
- Full-length
versions of each paper are desired for publication
in the IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics.
Manuscripts submitted at the time of the
Conference will receive priority attention.
Authors unable to attend the conference,
but wishing to submit papers for consideration
for publication in the Transactions, may
do so at any time. See Transactions
for details.
