Bio

Paul De Martini is currently leading a team of industry experts in the Smart Grid Business Unit at Cisco. Smart Grid is a project that aims to enable connected utilities to supply electricity in a more efficient and sustainable way, allowing consumers to gain better efficiency and control of their energy consumption. In his role as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, De Martini leads the development of Cisco's Smart Grid vision for end-to-end IP architecture and technology. De Martini is a member of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Smart Grid Interoperability Governing Board, the Edison Electric Institute's (EEI) Y2030 Strategic Planning Committee and the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) Intelligrid program. Prior to joining Cisco, De Martini was vice president of Advanced Technology at Southern California Edison (SCE). Here his team led SCE's Smart Grid strategy, policy and technology development that included advanced grid technologies, energy storage, electric transportation, smart metering and integration of smart energy consumer products. De Martini was also vice president of Edison SmartConnect™ and responsible for leading SCE's award-winning smart meter program. Prior to SCE, De Martini held executive positions with ICF International, Sempra Energy, Coastal Corporation and PG&E Corporation. De Martini holds an MBA from the University of Southern California and a BS from the University of San Francisco. He also earned a certificate in technology management from the California Institute of Technology and is currently a Fellow of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
