Sunday, so please spread the word around your organization
to people who will be at CES and have wondered about ICCE,
but can't spare the time to stay on during the week. Now
they can catch a mini-ICCE experience to round off their
CES jaunt!
So what is this "Sunday-Start"? Well we've tried to pack
as much as we can into that day. Breakfast starts form 08.20
and at 08.50 I'll be welcoming our delegates as they munch
on bagels & coffee; at 09.00 we will have Gary Shapiro,
chief executive of CEA to give the opening keynote. Our
conference theme is "The Future of Digital Media" and as
chairman of the Home Recording Rights Coalition (HRRC) Gary
can provide a unique insight to our delegates. As we see
the digital revolution driving disruptive change across
the music, movie, newspaper and book publishing industries
where is the future of digital media? Gary's keynote will
set the broad landscape for additional invited speaker and
panel sessions throughout ICCE.
Right after our morning keynote you have a choice of regular
speakers sessions, a tutorial on Haptics technology or our
first invited session of the day. Now the TV set has always
been a very core aspect of the CE industry and arguably
the starting point for our society. This year I'm pleased
to say that we have a range of sessions covering new and
emerging dimensions in TV viewing and our first special
session is focused on emerging industry developments in
"Interactive TV". Even better it is a double session which
continues after lunch so you'll have 6 key industry players
speaking followed by a 30 minute panel Q & A. We have an
opening luncheon talk on next-generation HDTV receiver technologies
from Wayne Luplow of Zenith followed by our lunch-time CES
review panel.
The CES review will comprise a handful of technical experts,
drawn from our TPC, who have attended CES giving their gut
reactions to this years show. In particular we'll ask them
to give a short 10-minute presentation with their major
loves and hates from CES 2011. After we'll have a second
group of panel judges who will debate with our experts to
decide if CES gets a thumbs-up from a technical perspective.
Bottom line - did we see the right level of technical innovation
getting out into the market and making the right impact
on people's lives. For sure its going to be an exciting
and possibly controversial lunchtime debate!
After lunch you've got a choice of regular speaker sessions
and following the afternoon coffee break we'll have a more
relaxed afternoon panel session where a mix of our TPC members
and invited guest panelists will discuss the conference
theme - "The Future of Digital Media". Finally, after a
busy day's program everyone is invited to our informal Welcome
Reception to wind down and relax.
